Government Relations

Support Dam Rehabilitation Legislation

ASCE Members,

It is time for us to take action!

No matter what field of engineering you specialize in, the ASCE Government Relations team is looking for your support. Each of us needs to contact our U.S. Representatives and Senators to encourage them to co-sponsor the Dam Rehabilitation and Repair Act (Senate - S. 732 and House of Representatives - H.R. 1770). I understand everyone has a very busy schedule but now is the time to take a few minutes to send an email and make a phone call to your US Senator and US Representative.

The more co-sponsors of The Dam Rehabilitation and Repair Act, the more powerful it will be and greater likelihood of gaining passage it will have. If you would like to review the details of the Dam Rehabilitation and Repair Act I have attached a copy of the text. Please read the information provided below and if there are any questions let me know and lets get the questions answered.

This website will allow you to directly email your representative through the ASCE Click & Connect website

Here are a couple links to assist in finding your U.S. Representatives and Senators contact information and phone numbers:
U.S. House of Representatives: http://www.house.gov/
U.S. Senate: http://www.senate.gov/

This is a great example of why we need an active Government Affairs Committee and why all engineers should take action to support their profession. Each of us needs to take it upon ourselves to get the word out! If you have not participated in Government Affairs before, now is the time to get involved and to get the word out to other engineers and the public. Talk to your friends, your co-workers, your family and anyone else who will listen and convince them to contact their US Reps and Senators. Now is the time!

If you send an email, call or write your elected officials on the Dam Rehabilitation and Repair act, please let me know. I plan on reporting your active involvement to the Society. Thank you for advocating on behalf of our profession!

Thank you
