Experience Required:
Ten years of responsible Public Works experience, including professional Civil Engineering experience, such as general engineering, traffic engineering, traffic operations, and water engineering, five years of which must have included responsibility for planning and directing complex municipal civil engineering projects; and a minimum of five years of recent and relevant administrative and supervisory experience managing a large, comprehensive engineering operation.
Job Description:

Under general direction of the Director of Public Works, this management position provides management oversight of the Public Works Department in the Director’s absence and is responsible for the overall operation and performance of the Engineering Division and the Parking Section. May act as principal staff to advisory councils, commissions and/or committees. Represents the Director of Public Works at meetings and in administrative matters. Assists in establishing goals, objectives and strategies for Public Works programs. Directs all phases of the Public Works Engineering Division. Reviews and approves plans prepared by private engineers for the development of subdivisions.
Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is required. Registration as a Civil Engineer with the California State Board of Registration for Civil and Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists is required. Master’s Degree in Engineering, Public Administration, Business Administration or related field is desirable.
