Job Description:
This position will support The Nature Conservancy's cross-functional urban team focused on delivering innovative nature-based solutions to address the climate crisis. The Bowtie Wetland Demonstration Project is a multi-benefit stormwater management and habitat enhancement project along the LA River.
The Project Director will oversee all design and construction activities to ensure the Project is implemented on budget while achieving design goals, community uplift, and public-private-partnership. TNC, CA State Parks, and other public partners are working to deliver this 3-acre constructed wetland retrofit project. The project aims to demonstrate the art of the possible, utilizing a hybrid green-grey approach to manage stormwater from a 2,800-acre catchment area on a former railyard. Project goals include improving water quality, enhancing habitat, and increasing public access to open space and the LA River.
This position is funded for a two-year term w/ possibility for extension.

Qualifications:
• BA/BS degree and 5 years’ experience in conservation, project management, or environmental planning, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Familiarity, understanding, and/or background with engineering practices and contract management.
• Experience managing and delivering complex or multiple projects, including staffing, workloads, reporting, and finances under deadlines.
• Supervisory experience, including motivating, leading, setting objectives, and managing performance for multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience in partnership development and communications with non-profit partners, community groups and/or government agencies.
• Experience negotiating.
• Reliable mode of transportation to get to project site in Northeast Los Angeles.
