The Structural Engineering Institute (SEI) Los Angeles (LA) Chapter was founded in July 2020 to connect, unite and collaborate with the fellow structural engineers, young professionals and students in Los Angeles region for innovation and advancement in the field of structural engineering and to develop future leaders.

Goals:

  • To connect and unite fellow structural engineers in Los Angeles region and to foster professional development through continual interaction and participation.

  • To develop future leaders by educating, engaging and collaborating with younger structural engineers and students.

  • To update the fellow engineers of the innovation and advancements in the field of structural engineering.

Plans:

  • Participate in monthly meetings with ASCE Metropolitan Los Angeles Branch, first Tuesday of every month.

  • As membership grows, host independent SEI member meetings on a regular basis.

  • Organize technical presentations and virtual happy hours to interact with fellow structural engineers and students.

  • Organize joint technical and social events with other local SEI Chapters and National Committee.

  • Connect with SEI National leaders and participate in the National Events and Conferences.

  • Reach out to local structural engineers and leaders and get them involved with SEI Los Angeles Chapter.

AMIT S. JOSHI, PE | CHAIR

Amit Joshi is a Project Manager with California High-Speed Rail.  In the past, he was a Bridge Engineer at Caltrans, Division of Engineering Services, Office of Bridge Design South serving the southern counties in California. He has over 10 years of experience in structural design and construction of bridges in California. He served as a project engineer on various seismic retrofit, bridge widening and replacement projects in Los Angeles Region. He was part of the Post-Earthquake Investigation Team at Caltrans. Amit has a Master of Science Degree from the University of California Davis in Structural Engineering and Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the College of Engineering Pune, India. He enjoys cooking, hiking and solving mathematical puzzles in his spare time.
