Le Val Lund Lecture with Northridge 30 Symposium on Lifeline Infrastructure and Community Resilience

The Le Val Lund Lecture & Symposium are annual events held at both Caltech and University of Southern California on a rotating basis. The event intends to promote interaction between infrastructure professionals, community leaders, educational institutions, and researchers to further expand on infrastructure resiliency and community preparedness.

Each year, ASCE Society awards a Global Le Val Lund Practice Award for Lifeline Risk Reduction, which was established to honor the late Le Val Lund, Jr., PE, M.ASCE, who was a recognized expert on protecting urban lifelines from natural and manmade disasters. Le Val Lund served as a great contributor to the infrastructure community, working 42 years for the Los Angeles Department of Water & Power (LADWP), where he helped design, construct and operate many significant projects including the Second LA Aqueduct, dams, and filtration plants. With ASCE, Le Val Lund was one of the founders of the Metro LA Branch (MLAB), and valued industry professionals working closely with academia to further develop future generations of infrastructure stewards.

This year, the ASCE Metro LA Branch was excited to host the 6th annual Le Val Lund Lecture & Symposium at USC on Friday, May 17. The event consisted of an afternoon symposium filled with industry experts discussing a variety of technical topics. Thereafter, the Dinner Lecture hosted a panel of distinguished guests and the annual dinner lecture by the 2020 ASCE  Le Val Lund Practice Awardee, Anshel J. Schiff.
