COMMITTEES

Bridging the Gap: Engineers, Public Policy, and Politics.

Civil engineers are challenged with improving the infrastructure and quality of life in Los Angeles. However, much of L.A.’s vast and complex infrastructure of water, transportation, structures, and energy are in a state of disrepair and unable to meet the demands of the region.

Investing in infrastructure is a matter of public policy and legislation, which at times can be favorable or obstructive to financing and building infrastructure. As experts and leaders in infrastructure, civil engineers must be involved in the policy making process at all levels of government to champion the major water, transportation, structures, and energy needs of Los Angeles
